![]() My sister and I got to perform on stage with my mom's bluegrass band as soon as I learned how to sing harmony, also the age of 5. I got away with learning by ear so well that I think I never took the time to learn reading music well because I could just listen to my mom play something and then pick it right up. However, I was very slow at reading music. I took to piano very naturally … it was the stringed instruments like guitar that I always had a harder time with. I remember picking it up quickly, but I never took lessons consistently, which is something I regret. My mom began teaching me piano at home when I was about 5 years old. what do you recall about your younger years learning piano and performing? You started playing piano and performing at a young age. ![]() Well, lots of things changed that second semester, and man, am I glad that I stayed :) But my mom asked me to finish out the year, and if I still felt the same way after the second semester, then we could talk about transferring. ![]() I missed home, felt alone and I wasn't sure what my future looked like. After my first semester at Binghamton, I actually wanted to transfer. As far as volleyball goes, some of the memories that stand out are the fun times we shared as a team … the locker room dance parties, the inside jokes from the six-hour long bus rides, leaning on each other to make it through spring season, or late night chats in our hotel rooms. I got to be part of one of the top business schools in the nation and I loved my program - both the people and the professors. I wasn't just an athlete, but there were so many other opportunities available to me … a capella, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. I have so many lasting memories from volleyball, but also all the other things I was able to be involved in. I met some of my lifelong friends at Binghamton. Every time I come back to campus I get so nostalgic and find myself wishing I could go back to such a special time in my life. Between playing a D1 sport, overloading in my class credits multiple semesters, getting my MBA in one year, and also planning a wedding while doing so … I was ready to be done! But at the same time, I tried to cherish every moment. At the time, it was easy to think "man, I can't wait to graduate!" because I'm not gonna lie, my time there was very challenging. My lasting impression of Binghamton.is that I miss it. What memories stand out during your time at Binghamton? What is your lasting impression of your college days?
